As a veterinary assistant/technician you will be responsible for performing administrative tasks, assisting veterinary staff in examining and monitoring animal patients, and maintaining clean and sanitary conditions in exam and operating rooms.
Our idea of a great candidate would be an individual willing to learn new skills and develop their talents.
You must have a passion for caring for animals, and excellent customer-service skills as veterinary assistants work directly with animal owners.
This job would be 30
hours.
Salary is based on experience and education.
Experience is preferred but not necessary and work references are required.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Care for animals including feeding, watering, and exercising Sanitize examining rooms Holding and restraining animals during exams Cleaning instruments, equipment, and tools Stocking exam and operating rooms Assisting with surgical procedures Providing care for animals Cleaning cages and kennels Administering medications with supervision Assisting in collecting samples such as blood or urine for testing (once you are proficient) Assisting in emergency first aid when needed Communicating with owners animal histories, the doctor's instructions, and surgery/recovery instructions Answering phones, updating files and processing payments, etc.
Requirements and
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent Certification a plus; Associate's degree or course credit in veterinary technology or animal science from an American Veterinary Medical Association-accredited program a plus but not required One (1) year previous experience in animal care or in a clinic preferred but not necessary Proficient computer skills Have a real passion for working with animals and their owners Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a passion for working and having fun with the staff Attention to detail and follow throughthe pets are counting on us Physical ability to restrain larger pets when necessary, lift 30
pounds Able to work some evenings, possibly some Saturdays, and occasionally extended hours Continuing education is provided Job Type:
